Oh Oh Oh, How Good is The Lord?

Sunday October 12th, for thousands just another boring Sunday where you get up, have breakfast and clean the house – but for those who attend Clifton Community Church and many other Churches around the world it is a day in which we give thanks for everything – Food and Life and Water – then again, its not just a day – its a festival.. a celebration – a big old party! and because of this amazing day the whole fellowship celebrated together, in an interactive experience – with lots of food and praise, with a little drop of playdough!

The Church & Chips group was much smaller this week – with many of our regular faces missing, through school or home life, but although the group was smaller we still had a merry old time – we spent theAf fellowship time Praying and Singing and playing games – memory games, creative games and games in which the prizes were Mars Bars! :-) – whoever told you Church couldnt be sweet was very wrong!

Kelvin led the celebration – with Victoria on the Piano – and of course I would like to convey my thanks to the team who spend their mornings serving us Toast & Tea – every single one, Anne and Sylvia and Hazel – who were also responsible for the brilliant Harvest loaf which they spent Friday evening whipping up!

The whole point of Harvest is to give thanks for what God gives us – the resources we are handed by the holy hand to keep ourselves living, conveying his message and looking after his creation. and as I mentioned above we gave thanks by singing LOUD and PROUD.

We also spent some time in prayer, visual prayer – writing our thanks on leaves shaded with rich autumnal colours which we then dressed the bare branches of a birchy tree thing with – see another thing to be thankful for.

After we closed the meeting with one final prayer – lead and response – before we parted for another week of our normal lives, apart from each other. but still in the minds and hearts of others.

Because of the small gathering of Children we had at the hall this week Dean and Maureen – our resident ‘Gordon Ramsay’s’ made lots and lots of food, Sausage and Chips to be precise and everybody managed to have at least 2 servings, (Morgan Breton ate a total of ten sausages) – after everybody was full – Dean and Kelvin took them upstairs so they could play 40:40 and let their creative juices flow with the Playdough – of course our musically talented (if thats the word?) had a little rattle with the drums… even when the parents arrived they were busy upstairs… doing what, I will never know! :-)

so thats another week in the lives of our brilliant children and the leaders that shape their lives with Jesus and if you come back next week, we may have more!
